Ulteriori informazioni / contenuti	Schon seit vielen Jahren bin ich vom Werk des naturalistischen, schottisch-amerikanischen Schriftstellers John Muir (1838-1914) berührt. Als einer der über die kalifornische Bergkette der Sierra Nevada mit Sack und Pack gewandert ist, habe ich hohe Affinitäten zu seinen naturalistischenTexten, Betrachtungen und Umweltsbelangen. Die ausgewähltenTexte für die sechs verschiedenen Sätze entstammen aus Muirs Schriften zwischen 1863 und 1875. Mit deren Vertonung habe ich versucht, Muirs Erstaunen vor der Schönheit und dem Wunder dieser hohen Berge festzuhalten. Die Musik ist grundsätzlich heiter und tonal, der wichtigste ist der Schlusssatz mit seiner Frage über die Rolle des Menschen im Schicksal der Berge. Das Werk beginnt und endet mit einem Trompetensolo hinter der Bühne, das wie eine Stimme aus der wilden Natur ertönt, das Final-Solo endet mit einer Frage ohne Antwort. As one who has backpacked in the Sierra Nevada Mountains range in California I have felt a close affinity with his writings and his concern for the environment. The text for the six different movements are taken from Muir's writings between the years 1863 to 1875, and in setting Muir's words to music I have tried to capture his sense of wonder at the beauty and miracle of the mountains. Most of the music is bright and tonal with only a few exceptions, the most important being the final movement with its question of what role will man play in the mountains destiny. The work begins and ends with an offstage trumpet, suggesting a voice in the wilderness, and the final solo ends with a question, not a resolution. Anthony Plog, June 2011, Freiburg i. Br., Germany Depuis de nombreuses années je suis sensible aux écrits de John Muir (1838-1914), le naturaliste américain d'origine écossaise. Pour avoir parcouru les hautes chaînes des Sierra Nevada Mountains de Californie, j'ai ressenti de fortes affinités avec ses textes et préoccupations relatifs à l'environnement. Les textes choisis pour les six mouvements distincts ont été écrits entre 1863 et 1875. En les mettant en musique j'ai tenté de capturer ses émerveillements devant la beauté et le miracle des hautes montagnes. L'essentiel de la musique est, à quelques exceptions près, lumineuse et tonale, l'essentiel étant résumé dans le mouvement final avec l'interrogation du rôle que l'homme jouera dans le destin de ces montagnes. La pièce commence et se termine avec un solo de trompette joué dans les coulisses, à l'image d'une voix qui s'élève de la nature sauvage, la deuxième intervention concluant sans répondre, mais avec une dramatique interrogation.
