Ulteriori informazioni / contenuti	Dieses Werk habe ich geschrieben, weil die Blechbläserquintett-Tubisten oft klagen, nicht genügend im Rampenlicht zu stehen. Hier können sie - wenn auch nur für zehn Minuten - ihr musikalisches und technisches Talent unter Beweis stellen. Komponiert wurde das Concerto für den Tubisten James Jenkins für ein Konzert unter dem Motto 'Tropicool'. Die Veranstalter hatten sich ein Werk mit lateinamerikanischem Akzent gewünscht, was ich aucherfüllt habe - diskret und nur im ersten Satz. Weiter geht das Stück mit einer lyrischen Ballade; den Abschluss bildet ein Tanz mit ausgeprägtem, aber vorsätzlich unregelmässigem Rhythmus, wie eine Herausforderung an einen eventuellen Tänzer. Obwohl das Werk als ständiger Dialog zwischen dem Solisten und den anderen Mitgliedern des Ensembles angelegt ist, glaube ich, die Tubisten werden hier weitaus mehr Spass haben als in ihrer gewohnten Rolle... James Stephenson III I wrote this piece because brass quintet tubists often complain that they don't get their share of the limelight. In this piece, even though it only lasts ten minutes, they can demonstrate their musical talent and technique. The concerto was written for tubist James Jenkins for the occasion of a concert entitled 'Tropicool', where the presenters had specifically asked me to include a little Latin flavor. This I did only in the first movement, and merely a sprinkle at a time. The rest of the piece includes a lyrical Ballade and concludes with a Dance with odd meters and syncopations, as a challenge to a possible dancer. Although the piece is conceived as an ongoing dialogue between the solo part and the rest of the ensemble, I think that tubists will find a lot more enjoyment here than in their regular role... James Stephenson III J'ai écrit cette pièce parce que les tubistes des quintettes de cuivres se plaignent souvent de n‘être pas suffisamment mis en évidence. Ici, même si ce n'est que pour dix minutes, ils peuvent faire la démonstration de leur talent musical et technique. Le concerto a été écrit pour le tubiste James Jenkins à l'occasion d'un concert intitulé 'Tropicool' et les organisateurs m'avaient demandé d'y ajouter une pointe 'latino', ce que j'ai fait, discrètement, dans le premier mouvement uniquement. Le reste de la pièce comprend une Ballade lyrique et se termine par une danse au rythme soutenu mais intentionellement irrégulier, comme un défi à un éventuel danseur. Bien que la pièce soit conçue en un dialogue permanent entre la partie solo et le reste de l'ensemble, je pense que les tubistes y trouveront largement plus de plaisir que dans leur rôle habituel...
