Ulteriori informazioni / contenuti	Straitjacket [Zwangsjacke] In diesem zehnminütigen Stück habe ich versucht, eine kafkaeske Atmosphäre von Klaustrophobie und Paranoia zu schaffen. Es herrscht meist dunkle, oft gewaltvolle, manchmal groteske Stimmung. Tuba und Klavier sollten so spielen als ob sie in einer fatalen Umklammerung vereinigt wären - in der Tat, der Klavierpart ist manchmal auf einzelne Noten im Tubaregister beschränkt. Gegen den Schluss des Stückes bringt eine kurze Tubakadenz Hoffnung auf Befreiung, was aber durch ein grausames Grollen im tiefen Register am Klavier verdrängt wird, und ein düsteres Ende des Werkes einführt. 'Straitjacket' wurde von James Gourlay beauftragt, dem das Werk auch gewidmet ist. Ich bin ihm tiefstens dankbar für seinen Rat, die Urfassung einen ganzen Ton tiefer zu setzen: die Stimmung ist noch wesentlich dunkler geworden. Adam Gorb Straitjacket In this ten-minute piece I have attempted to illustrate a Kafkaesque sense of claustrophia and paranoia. The mood is predominantly dark, often violent, and at times grotesque. The tuba and piano should play as if locked together in a deadly embrace - indeed the piano part is limited to one note at a time in the register of the tuba. Towards the end of the work a brief cadenza for the tuba gives a hope of liberation, but this is denied by a cruel tolling in the depths of the piano that brings the piece to a bleak conclusion. 'Straitjacket' was commissioned by and is dedicated to James Gourlay to whom I am eternally grateful for suggesting the work should be transposed down a tone, thus blackening the mood still further. Adam Gorb Straitjacket [camisole de force] Dans cette pièce d'une durée de 10 minutes, j'ai tenté de créer une atmosphère kafkaïenne de claustrophobie et de paranoïa dans laquelle prédomine une humeur sombre, souvent violente et parfois grotesque. Tuba et piano devraient jouer comme s'ils étaient unis en une étreinte fatale. En fait la partie de piano est limitée à une note à la fois dans le registre du tuba. Vers la fin de la pièce, une brève cadence dédiée au tuba donne un espoir de libération, ce qui est démenti par un cruel grondement dans les profondeurs du piano qui introduit une lugubre conclusion à l'oeuvre. 'Straitjacket' a été commandité par James Gourlay à qui la pièce est dédiée.
