Ausser der Form, hätten diese Trois Tableaux [Drei Bilder] fast alle Voraussetzungen eines Concertinos. Das Werk beginnt mit einem von dem Solisten angeführten atemberaubenden Carrousel (Karussell), verflochten in eine teuflisch präzise Rhythmik der Quartett-Stimmen, welche im nachfolgenden Nocturne einen warmen und sanften harmonischen Hintergrund bilden für die Soloposaune, die eine einfache und ergreifende Melodie spielt. Die Tarantella, ein mythischer kollektiver Hüpftanz zur Vertreibung der fatalen Folgen eines Tarantel-Bisses, hat im Laufe der Zeit unzählige Komponisten inspiriert. Die vorliegende von Jean-François Michel ist äusserst suggestiv in ihren zum Leben zurückführenden,mitreissenden Trance-Effekten! Trois Tableaux liefert ein sehr wertvolles, stimulierendes künstlerisches Material, geeignet für Masterclassen, Prüfungen und als Konzerthighlight. In this work for solo trombone and trombone quartet, the composer evokes the most discerning sound, dynamic and rhythmic resourcefulness trombones can offer. With the exception of their musical form, these Trois Tableaux [Three Pictures] have nearly all features of a concertino. The work starts with an astounding Carrousel [Carousel] lead by the soloist and supported by fiendishly precise rhythmical riffs by the interspersed voices of the quartet. In the following Nocturne, the solo trombone develops a simple and touching melody over a warm and smooth harmonic background played by the quartet trombones in cup mutes. The Tarantella, a mythical bouncy collective dance created to dispel the fatal bite of the tarantula, has inspired countless composers over the course of time and this new one, composed here by Jean-François Michel, is powerfully suggestive of the exciting effects of the trance of bringing one back to life! These Trois Tableaux offer a rich artistic material, extremely stimulating for masterclasses or examinations, but also as a highlight for concerts. Dans cette oeuvre réunissant un trombone soliste et un quatuor de trombones, Jean-François Michel a mis en valeur les ressources sonores, dynamiques et rythmiques les plus subtiles que l'on peut tirer de ces instruments. A part la forme, ces Trois Tableaux auraient presque toutes les caractéristiques d'un concertino. L'oeuvre débute avec un Carrousel étourdissant mené par le soliste et soutenu avec une précision rythmique diabolique par les voix entremêlées du quatuor. Dans le Nocturne qui suit, le trombone solo développe une mélodie simple et touchante sur un fond harmonique chaud et velouté de trombones munis de sourdines bols. La Tarantella, danse sautillante collective mythique destinée à dissiper les effets de la morsure mortelle de la tarentule, a inspiré d'innombrables compositeurs à travers le temps et celle composée ici par Jean-François Michel provoque tout particulièrement ses exaltants effets de transes qui ramènent à la vie!
